When planning how to take part in the National Health Service’s 70th birthday celebrations, Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust approached The Bigger Printing Company to support a project which would involve a super-sized, bespoke wall mural being produced for the hospital.
Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust runs the Great Western Hospital, a large hospital situated in Swindon. The National Health Service (NHS) turned 70 on 5 July 2018. It’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate the achievements of one of the nation’s most loved institutions, to appreciate the vital role the service plays in caring for the nation, and to recognise and thank the extraordinary NHS staff. NHS70 is a UK-wide project, with multiple events starting from January 2018, peaking in July 2018.
Part of the Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s celebrations of NSH70 was to commission a bespoke wall mural to be created which would be installed in the main entrance of the hospital. The design for the wall mural was created by the talented artist Tahgasa Bertram, who kept the design focused on the main brand colours of the NHS, and his design celebrates not only the NHS as a whole, but also the large town of Swindon, and the NHS’s role within the community.
Bigger Printing produced and installed the wall mural artwork (designed at over 8 metres long by over 3 metres tall), onto vinyl which was protected with a matt seal – allowing for easy cleaning, and reducing glare from strong celling lights. Once the wall mural was designed, unprinted paper was then placed over the top of the design, allowing for a grand unveiling ceremony in July 2018.
This project marks the latest collaboration between the Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Bigger Printing, following on from various window displays around the hospital, internal displays boards, external Contra Vision displays, and floor vinyl displays.
