Cheltenham students marketing agency BAM had big plans for their stand ahead of Youth Marketing Strategy (YMS) London in March, and came to The Bigger Printing Company with a rather creative and unique exhibition stand design request.
YMS is the biggest coming together of the youth marketing industry in Europe. Over 1,000 brands, agencies, universities and youth organisations attend the two day festival at The Roundhouse, London.
With such a high volume of attendees at the event, and many other agencies to compete with, BAM needed their stand to have a high impact on the attendees to attract attention. In order to catch-the-eye and draw the attendees to them, BAM designed their stand to be highly interactive and entertaining by combining large format print displays, alongside moving images on screens. Attendees visiting their stand could play a huge slot machine for the chance to win a variety of prizes. If the jackpot was hit, the user received 50,000 email sends. Other prizes included a free advert in the Guardian newspaper and an iPad.
Once the concept of the stand had been created, BAM needed to find a supplier capable of fusing colourful large format print, along with digital / animated elements. Through working on previous projects together, BAM were well aware of Bigger Printing's capability to create bespoke, impactful solutions.
The main section of the exhibition stand was built using the Curve display system – a total of 7 panels (including Easi-Link panels, as well as standard straight panels). The Curve display system is a tension system that is quick and easy to assemble and the Easi-Link panels provide flexibility allowing the shape of the stand to be altered. Standing at over 2m tall, this certainly helped the stand make an immediate impact. The interactive element of the stand was the slot machine which was created using 10mm high-density foam board (which is very rigid, but also lightweight making it perfect for exhibitions), with 3 sections cut-out for the digital screens. By shape-cutting bespoke holes in the high-density foam board panel, BAM were able to combine screens and large format print displays to great effect. A shape-cut header panel was also created using 10mm high-density foam board, pushing the brand elements of BAM even further above the stand, allowing the stand to be seen from all directions.
Commenting on the project, BAM Managing Director Tim Bodenham said “We were looking for a versatile installation when creating our fruit machine activation, one that allowed for high impact but still carried the convenience of easy setup and transportation. The team at Bigger Printing were supportive in understanding our needs and helping us to quickly come up with a workable solution.”
