National Star College student Connor creates musical cut vinyl displays on work experience placement

Last week, The Bigger Printing Company had the pleasure of teaching National Star student Connor how to create displays using shape-cut cast vinyl during his work experience placement at Bigger Printing HQ.

Connor arrived at Bigger Printing without much experience of large format print, and therefore enjoyed a short introduction into the different types of displays Bigger Printing produces, and then Connor spent some time learning about vinyl in a little more detail.

Under the watchful eye of Bigger Printing’s vinyl guru, Mike, Connor created some typography designs of the names of his favourite bands using specialist cut vinyl software. Connor then learnt how to make them cut ready, he observed them be cut on the vinyl plotter, and then learnt how to weed out the displays, ready for application.

By the end of his time with Bigger Printing, Connor was able to take away several shape-cut vinyl displays, which he’d prepared along with Mike, ready to be applied to a variety of surfaces back at National Star’s off-site residence Elizabeth House, Gloucester.
