Last week, The Bigger Printing Company had the pleasure of welcoming Year 10 Cleeve School student, Samuel, into the team to introduce him into the world of large-format printing.
With a keen interest in graphic design, Samuel chose to spend his Work Experience Week at Bigger Printing to further his understanding of graphic design when designing specifically for large-format print.
On his first day, Samuel was given an understanding on how the large format print equipment works, and the general work flow that Bigger Printing follows. He was also given his design brief; to design, process and observe the printing process of his very own roll-up banner. The subject of his design was open, and Samuel chose to design his roll-up banner for the running club which he is a member of – Cheltenham Harriers.
After his first day which served as an introduction to the team, the company, and the project Samuel set out to plan the design for his roll-up banner, with some guidance from the team at Bigger Printing.
Once Samuel had finalised his design, he exported his file as a print-ready PDF, then processed and proofed the file ready for production along with the team in the Studio. Samuel then observed every stage of his roll-up banner being printed, sealed, and trimmed, ready for him to take home at the end of the week.
Commenting on Samuel’s week at Bigger Printing, Operations and Marketing Manager, David Bowen said “Samuel was very interested in what we do, and how we produce such large graphics. We knew Samuel had a strong interest in graphic design before he started with us, so a design project made sense as it allowed him to expand on his design skills, whilst also understanding how to design for large format output. I think Samuel can be very proud of the design he has produced, and I’m sure he has left us with an expanded skill-set, especially when using the Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop and Illustrator.”
