Recycling Results 2017 - 2018

Our recycling results from September 2017 to June 2018

Our recycling results from September 2017 to June 2018

We have always strived to be as environmentally friendly as possible, and in September 2017 we were thrilled to become 100% landfill free.

In the months that have followed, we have carefully tracked our production processes to ensure we are able to reduce waste, and recycle everything that we possibly can.

Anything that cannot be recycled is sent to the Waste-To-Energy program which creates clean energy from the waste materials – rather than it being buried in the ground. Energy (electricity) is produced from the non-recyclable materials, increasing sustainable and renewable energy resources. Effective filters are used during this process to contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions, ensuring this process remains environmentally-friendly. Waste-To-Energy also assists the UK to meet EU renewable energy targets (that 15% of UK energy consumed to come from renewable energy sources by 2020).

Above are our waste management statistics from September 2017 to June 2018. 38% of our waste has been recycled, 61% has been sent to the Waste-To-Energy program, 1% has been hazardous waste, and 0% has been sent to landfill.

While we are very pleased with these numbers, we will be working hard over the next 12 months to increase the percentage of recyclable waste we produce compared to what is sent to the Waste-To-Energy program.

In order to increase the percentage of recyclable waste we produce, we are constantly challenging our existing suppliers, and investigating new suppliers in order to ensure we are using the latest, recyclable materials, and phasing out traditional plastic materials as much as possible.

Unfortunately, inks are unable to be recycled, and we dispose of them in a responsible way, as hazardous waste. We ensure we use every possible drop of ink before the bags and cartridges are designated for a hazardous waste collection.

There is no Planet B, and we must look after this one. The more we develop as a company, the more we will become even more environmentally friendly.
