CSWPC beat Caledonia 15-12

Cheltenham Swimming Water Polo Club start the defence of their British Championship title with a win against Caledonia

Cheltenham Swimming and Water Polo Club (CSWPC) kicked-off the defence of their British Championship title with a tight win over Scottish Champions Caledonia.

Having only narrowly beaten Caledonia earlier in the regular league season, CSWPC knew to expect a close game. CSWPC were also missing Olympian Rob Parker and Will Middleton who were banned and injured respectively.

CSWPC started the game fast, racing to a 4-0 lead with just 3 minutes played, bringing the large crowd at GL1 Leisure Club to life. The first quarter continued to be high-scoring, with both teams scoring great goals to take the score to 7-3.

The second and third quarters proved to be tight, with indiscipline slipping in and too many penalties being conceded by CSWPC. The fourth and final quarter started 14-8, however, after a quick goal by Cheltenham’s Adam Legge, CSWPC were unable to contain Caledonia, seeing them score four goals without reply. The match ended 15-12 to Cheltenham, although the win leaves CSWPC with plenty to work on before they play at GL1 again on the 19th of March. The win places Cheltenham in joint first with Manchester at the top of Group A of the British Championships.

As a proud main sponsor of CSWPC, Bigger Printing provided 6 PVC banners at 3m wide, 9 A0 paper posters, and a 3 panel presentation Curve display for the team to dress pool-side and the corridors around the pool.
