CSWPC continue winning ways

Cheltenham Swimming Water Polo Club start the defence of their British Champions title with a 24 – 15 win

Cheltenham Swimming Water Polo Club (CSWPC) started the defence of their title as British Champions on Saturday 17th January, playing at GL1 Leisure Centre in front of a crowd of more than 400. The 128-year-old club took the game to their opponent Lancaster, coming out 24-15 winners in an entertaining game.

As sponsors of the team, The Bigger Printing Company supplied a combination of 8 metre long, 4 metre long and behind-the-goals PVC banners. Members of Bigger Printing’s team were also situated in the crowd cheering on CSWPC.

A change in rules by the national body means games are no longer played in central locations, such as Sheffield, Manchester and Bristol. Starting from this year, Cheltenham will host the top five teams in the country, while travelling to away games. The club has recently started an appeal to raise £4,500 to hold matches and travel.

The next home game for CSWPC in the British Championships is on Saturday February 21st at 6pm against Sheffield. The game is being held at the GL1 Leisure Centre in Gloucester.
