The Bigger Printing Company have been busy with a building sign for Cheltenham design agency, Maple Rock Design.
Maple Rock Design needed an outdoor building sign that would be both ‘on brand’ and robust enough to withstand the elements. And the sign needed to capture the detail of the brand’s signature maple leaf – a complex but exquisite design.
Often external signs are produced using vinyls, but vinyls can be tricky for more detailed designs, due to the level of cutting required. So to achieve the right effect, Bigger Printing printed white ink directly onto the main dibond building sign.
White ink was used for the text and as an underprint for the leaf design, with brown ink printed over the top. All designs must be printed onto white for the colours to stay vibrant and accurate. The end result is a stunning building sign that accurately reflects the Maple Leaf brand.
If this sign had been printed without white ink, the brown leaf would be hardly visible on the black surface. A white tray would have needed to have been wrapped in a vinyl print, which would have lacked some of the density of the black used in this sign.
Commenting on the sign, Karyn Mitchell at Maple Rock Design, says: “We're really happy with the sign – it looks great and is exactly what we wanted. Jon knew just what we were after and never made it seem like the complex logo would be a problem. He gave great advice and suggested various options for us and the sign was delivered and installed with no fuss. We will definitely use Bigger Printing again when we update our internal signage later in the year!”
